๐ผ Livelihood & Financial Literacy Training: Building Independence, One Skill at a Time
For many LGBTQIA+ individuals, economic independence is not just a goal โ itโs a form of survival, dignity, and liberation.
At Jamshedpur Queer Circle (JQC), we believe that empowering the queer community starts with giving them the tools to thrive financially and professionally.
Thatโs why we created the Livelihood & Financial Literacy Training Program โ a space where skills meet empowerment, and dreams meet opportunity.
๐ Why Livelihood and Financial Literacy Matter
Across the world, LGBTQIA+ individuals โ especially trans, non-binary, and marginalized youth โ face higher rates of unemployment and economic exclusion.
In India, studies show that transgender people experience a 50% unemployment rate (Source: National Human Rights Commission of India, 2018).
Financial insecurity forces many into unsafe jobs or situations where exploitation is common.
Our mission is to change that.
Through education, skills development, and entrepreneurship support, JQC helps queer youth stand on their own feet โ proudly and powerfully.
๐ฏ What Our Training Offers
- Financial Basics: Budgeting, saving, digital banking, and understanding government welfare schemes.
- Entrepreneurship Skills: Setting up micro-businesses, marketing basics, and sustainable income generation.
- Livelihood Linkages: Connecting individuals with real job opportunities, self-employment pathways, and support networks.
- Mentorship Support: Guidance from queer-friendly professionals and local business mentors.
From starting food carts and tailoring businesses to opening craft stores and online shops โ our participants turn skills into sustainable livelihoods.
๐ The Impact So Far
- 100+ LGBTQIA+ individuals have gained financial literacy through our programs.
- Many participants opened their first bank accounts โ a crucial step toward financial autonomy.
- Over dozens of small businesses (tailoring, crafts, food stalls, online services) have been launched successfully.
- Participants report increased self-confidence, reduced economic dependency, and greater personal freedom.
๐ Why Financial Literacy Is Critical (External Data)
- The World Bank (2022) states that financial literacy improves lifetime earnings by up to 25%, especially among marginalized communities.
- A 2023 Stonewall UK study shows that LGBTQ individuals with financial independence report higher self-esteem and lower mental health issues.
- The UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) stresses that economic empowerment is central to LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
Knowledge is power. Financial knowledge is freedom.
๐ Skills for Survival, Tools for Thriving
At JQC, we donโt just dream of an equal world โ we build it, skill by skill, step by step.
Through Livelihood & Financial Literacy Training, weโre ensuring that every LGBTQIA+ individual in Jharkhand has the resources to dream bigger, reach higher, and live stronger.
Because independence is not a privilege โ itโs a right.
๐ผ Empower yourself. Create your path. Live your power.
