๐ŸŽค Sadda Haq: Open Mic for Queer Expression

Art is resistance. Art is healing. Art is freedom.

At Jamshedpur Queer Circle (JQC), Sadda Haq is the stage where queer voices rise, unapologetically and powerfully.

Sadda Haq, meaning "My Right," is our bold open mic platform where LGBTQIA+ individuals reclaim their space through poetry, music, storytelling, and performance.

Here, every word spoken, every song sung, every story shared โ€” is an act of visibility, resistance, and joy.

๐ŸŒˆ Why Sadda Haq Matters

In a society that often tries to silence queer voices, Sadda Haq reminds us:

๐Ÿ‘‰ We have the right to be heard. We have the right to be seen.

For many queer individuals, public expression is still dangerous. Sadda Haq creates a safe, empowering space where creativity becomes a tool for survival, celebration, and connection.

As one first-time performer said:

"For the first time, my voice didnโ€™t shake out of fear โ€” it shook the room with pride."

๐Ÿซถ What Happens at Sadda Haq?

  • Poetry Performances: Raw, emotional, defiant verses about identity, love, and liberation.
  • Music & Singing: From soulful ballads to fiery anthems of resilience.
  • Spoken Word & Monologues: Brave stories about coming out, surviving discrimination, and reclaiming joy.
  • Comedy & Satire: Laughing at stereotypes, dismantling prejudice through humor.
  • Dance & Visual Art Displays: Celebrating queerness in every form.

At Sadda Haq, the mic is open, the audience is loving, and the atmosphere is electric.

๐ŸŽฏ Our Objective

The purpose of Sadda Haq โ€“ Open Mic for Queer Expression is:

โž” To amplify queer voices through art, build visibility, break stigma, and inspire confidence.

When queer individuals step onto the stage, theyโ€™re not just performing โ€” they're making history.

๐Ÿ“ˆ The Impact So Far

  • Over 100+ queer youth have performed publicly for the first time through Sadda Haq.
  • Participants have reported increased self-confidence, emotional healing, and a stronger sense of belonging.
  • Audience members, including families and allies, leave moved, educated, and transformed.

Sadda Haq has helped normalize queer visibility in public spaces across Jamshedpur โ€” a powerful shift in a region where silence once ruled.

๐Ÿ“Š Why Creative Expression Matters (External Data)

  • According to a 2022 report by the World Health Organization (WHO), art-based interventions can significantly reduce anxiety, depression, and trauma symptoms.
  • The Trevor Project (2023) found that queer youth involved in arts and self-expression have higher resilience and lower rates of self-harm.
  • Studies by UNESCO (2021) show that cultural participation is critical for the social inclusion of LGBTQIA+ individuals.

In short: Expression heals what silence wounds.

๐ŸŒŸ Our Stage, Our Stories, Our Right

At JQCโ€™s Sadda Haq, every voice is honored, every story matters, and every performance is a revolution.

Because expression is not just a right โ€” itโ€™s a lifeline.

Through music, poetry, laughter, and tears, queer individuals are not just finding their voices โ€” theyโ€™re changing the world.

๐ŸŽค Stand up. Speak out. Claim your space.

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ This is your right. This is your Sadda Haq.
