SRHR (Sexual & Reproductive Health Rights) Training

🌸 SRHR Training: Empowering Queer Bodies, Minds, and Choices

At Jamshedpur Queer Circle (JQC), we believe that knowledge about your own body is not just important β€” it’s revolutionary.

For LGBTQIA+ individuals, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) are about much more than biology β€” they are about dignity, safety, and autonomy.

Through our SRHR Training, we are empowering queer youth to understand, protect, and celebrate their bodies and choices, free from shame and misinformation.

🌈 Why SRHR Training Matters for LGBTQIA+ Communities

Traditional health education often ignores or erases queer experiences.

In India and around the world:

  • Trans men are rarely taught about menstruation and reproductive options.
  • Lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth often lack access to accurate, inclusive information about safe sex.
  • Nonbinary individuals face invisibility in healthcare conversations.
  • Myths about HIV/AIDS, STIs, and gender-affirming care are widespread.

This lack of knowledge fuels stigma, discrimination, and health risks.

JQC’s SRHR Training directly challenges this β€” centering LGBTQIA+ realities and giving young people the tools to thrive.

🎯 What Our SRHR Training Covers

  • Body Autonomy & Consent: Understanding the right to say "yes," "no," and everything in between.
  • Queer-Inclusive Safe Sex Education: Covering all genders, sexualities, and relationship types.
  • Gender-Affirming Healthcare Basics: Information on hormones, surgeries, and mental health support for trans and nonbinary individuals.
  • Menstrual and Reproductive Health: Inclusive guidance for all bodies, regardless of gender identity.
  • Myth-Busting: Debunking misinformation around HIV, STIs, contraception, and queer relationships.
  • Rights Education: Teaching participants about their rights to healthcare access under Indian law (Transgender Persons Act, 2019).

πŸ“ˆ The Impact So Far

  • Over 100+ queer youth trained in comprehensive SRHR education.
  • Participants reported increased confidence in managing their health, relationships, and body autonomy.
  • Reduced shame, fear, and misinformation β€” especially among transmasculine and nonbinary participants.
  • Several participants accessed queer-friendly healthcare services for the first time after the training.

One participant shared:

β€œI used to think my body was wrong. After SRHR training, I realized β€” my body is powerful. And it’s mine.”

πŸ“Š Why SRHR Access Matters Globally

  • A UNESCO report (2022) found that queer youth without proper SRHR education are at double the risk of contracting STIs or experiencing sexual violence.
  • WHO (World Health Organization) states that queer-inclusive health education reduces risky behaviors and improves mental well-being by up to 40%.
  • Research shows that knowledge of sexual rights and body autonomy increases the likelihood of LGBTQIA+ individuals seeking preventative healthcare.

Access to SRHR is about survival.

Access to SRHR is about empowerment.

Access to SRHR is about freedom.

🌟 Empower Your Body. Own Your Choices.

At JQC, SRHR Training is more than a workshop β€” it’s a declaration:

Queer bodies are valid. Queer love is natural. Queer choices are powerful.

Through knowledge, we are nurturing a generation that is not only healthier but prouder, stronger, and unstoppable.

🌸 Know Your Rights. Know Your Body.

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Knowledge is Power β€” and it’s Yours.
